Living in Mornington

Mornington is the biggest town on the Peninsula and its commercial centre. Main Street runs from the highway down to the harbour and is full of restaurants, pubs, boutiques and the Wednesday market. Mills Beach, Fishermans Beach and the Mornington Yacht Club line the foreshore, and the Esplanade cliff-top walk connects them to Mount Martha.

It has every kind of housing: period homes near Main Street, 1960s brick veneers in Beleura Hill and Mornington East, newer estates out towards Moorooduc, and a growing supply of apartments and townhouses close to the centre. That mix makes it the most active market on the Peninsula for buyers, renters and investors alike.

With the Peninsula Link and Mornington–Tyabb Road, it is also the most practical commuter base — around an hour to the CBD outside peak.
